St Mary’s Catholic High School are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our Learning Support Department to work across the curriculum supporting pupils with special educational needs. All pupils are encouraged to achieve, and success is celebrated at all levels.
We are an over-subscribed 11-18 mixed Academy with excellent pupil behaviour and outcomes. Our most recent OFSTED inspection (June 2024) found the school to be Outstanding in all categories and more recently the Sunday Times Schools Guide 2026 named St Mary’s as the Comprehensive School of the Year East Midlands.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
• A good level of numeracy and literacy with 5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above including English and Mathematics.
• The ability to form good relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers as well as empathy and commitment to the pupils you will support.
• Patience with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• An understanding of confidentiality issues and data protections.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Previous experience within a similar role would be desirable, however, it is not essential.
