As a Catholic school providing full-time education at Post-16, we run our Religion and Life course for all students who do not study A Level Religious Studies.
As a central pillar of our Sixth Form personal development programme, the course provides students with the opportunity to explore ethical, philosophical, religious and cultural questions that shape contemporary society. Topics include Environmental Ethics, Just War, Sentience and AI and Refugees among many others.
Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, Religion and Life encourages students to engage thoughtfully with different perspectives, think critically about complex issues and develop the confidence to express and justify their views with clarity and respect. Through discussion, debate and reflection, students strengthen the communication, critical thinking, and oracy skills. These prepare them not only for university, apprenticeships or employment, but also for active and responsible citizenship.
We are proud that, in our 2025 CSI Report, inspectors recognised that 'students value the opportunity to discuss ethical issues and Catholic Social Teaching.'
