School Uniform

We are very proud of the high standard of uniform and appearance of our pupils. In order to maintain this, the school has a uniform and appearance policy which every pupil must adhere to.

Most items of uniform can be purchased from high street stores from our uniform suppliers:

FEMALE UNIFORM

Navy blue blazer with school badge and house badge (compulsory)

Winter and Summer

Regular retailers, Uniformerly and school uniform suppliers (Parade or Monkhouse). School badge can be purchased from School uniform suppliers (Parade or Monkhouse) and reception. House badge will be provided, but replacements must be purchased from reception.

School badge must be attached to breast pocket. House badge attached directly above. Blazers are to be worn at all times, unless permission to remove has been granted.

Navy blue box pleated skirt (optional - either skirt or trousers)

Winter and Summer

School uniform suppliers (Parade or Monkhouse) or second-hand (reception or Uniformerly).

Skirts must not be rolled and must be worn no higher than just above the knee.

Navy blue tailored trousers (optional - either skirt or trousers)

Winter and Summer

School uniform suppliers (Parade or Monkhouse) or second-hand (Uniformerly).

 

Navy blue opaque tights (compulsory when wearing skirt option)

Regular retailers.

Year 7 may wear white ankle socks instead for the first 3 weeks of September.

Black school shoes (compulsory)

Regular retailers.

Sensible, flat-heeled. Not trainer-style, canvas, suede, open toed or sling back. No extremely thick soles. No boots. No logos.

White school shirt (compulsory)

Winter (Summer with trouser option)

Regular retailers and second-hand (reception and Uniformerly).

Top button must be fastened. Shirt must be tucked into trousers/skirt.

School tie (compulsory)

Winter (Summer with trouser option)

School uniform suppliers (Parade or Monkhouse), second-hand and school reception.

Tie must be worn to waist, with knot tight to shirt collar.

Navy blue v necked jumper (optional)

Winter and Summer

Regular retailers and second-hand (reception and Uniformerly).

Must not be tucked into trousers/skirt.

Summer dress, with white ankle socks. Compulsory if choosing skirt winter option. Must be worn instead of navy skirt.

Summer

School uniform suppliers (Parade or Monkhouse) and second-hand (reception and Uniformerly). White ankle socks purchased from regular retailers.

Must not be worn no higher than just above the knee. Pupils may continue to wear the trouser option throughout summer period.

Staff are asked to ensure that pupils' uniform is monitored at all times. All instances of incorrect uniform and appearance are noted. If a pupil has to be reprimanded twice for infringements of the code listed below (and/or the planner), then on the second occasion the pupil will receive a lunchtime detention. Repeated infringement of uniform will lead to more serious sanctions and parental contact.

SCHOOL CHECKLIST

Bags

All pupils will require a school bag. This must be plain black or navy-blue, with minimal branding/logos. We recommend that bags are weather proof.

Hymn book

Pupils will need a ‘Laudate’ hymn book. This can be purchased from any retailer or from school reception. We recommend using a hymn-book cover, available from school reception. The hymn book is required for each assembly.

Apron

Pupils will need a plain blue apron for technology lessons.  This can be purchased from any retailer and is also available from the school’s uniform suppliers.

Stationery

Pupils must carry the stationery items listed below.  Replacements can be purchased from the school library.

  •  A black or blue ink pen
  • Whiteboard pen and eraser
  • A pencil
  • A ruler
  • An eraser
  • A sharpener
  • Coloured pencils
  • A gluestick

Calculator

Pupils are required to have a scientific calculator. For pupils in Year 7, this does not need to be purchased before the pupils start school, as the Maths’ department will provide further details to Year 7 pupils.

Other items

  • A set of headphones
  • A water bottle

Jewellery, Piercings and Smart Watches

  • A discreet amount of jewellery can be worn.
  • Two small earrings are allowed in each ear.
  • No facial piercings are allowed, but students in Sixth Form can wear clear spacers for any facial piercings or additional ear piercings.
  • Smart watches can be worn, but students must remove them on certain occasions, such as during examinations or subject tests.

Make-up and Nails

  • No make-up of any kind is permitted.

Accessories

  • Plain black or blue hairbands/scrunchies may be worn.
  • Plain navy-blue hats, scarves and gloves are permitted, however must be removed in the classroom/assembly.
  • Badges are only permitted if issued by the school. Aspire badges form a part of school uniform and are expected to be worn if awarded.

Hair

  • Students may not have extreme hair colouring or hair styles.
  • Any student with hair types 3a-4c may wear their hair in an appropriate protective hairstyle.
  • Religious headwear may be worn, provided it is plain, navy blue, and in keeping with the school.

Outdoor Coats and Bags

  • Students can wear a black or navy blue outdoor coat.
  • The coat must be no shorter than the school blazer, and logos must be minimal.
  • Bags must not be bright coloured or over patterned.
