This primary teacher training course leads to a recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). It prepares and equips you to teach in primary schools and foundation stage settings. School and university training is integrated throughout  the course and the University and St Mary’s Catholic High School will work closely together to identify your individual capabilities and needs to enable you to make progress in your development as a teacher

This PGCE course comprises of 60 credits at Masters level and 60 credits at level 6 plus the recommendation for the award of QTS.

School-based training is an integral part of the course, and you will work with pupils in key stages 1 and 2 (for primary trainees) or pupils in Key stage1/Foundation stage (early years trainees).

On this course, you will develop the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm needed to motivate children’s learning. We emphasise the core subjects of English, mathematics and science whilst engaging you in a creative and enquiry led approach to teaching which prepares you for a varied, demanding and rewarding career in early and primary education.

This course begins in early September and finishes by the end of June in the following year.

If you complete the award successfully you may be offered employment within one of the family of associated partner schools and will certainly be fully supported in any applications you make.
