Welcome to the library. The library is an important part of the school as a centre of resources to support all areas of the curriculum and is a welcoming space for both students and staff. There is a positive work ethic which allows all students to study in a constructive way enabling them to learn, develop and enjoy reading for pleasure.
To support student’s learning and reading for pleasure events such as Bookbuzz, Read for Good and World Book Day are held through the year.
Students can borrow 2 books at a time for up to 3 weeks from our comprehensive stock of fiction and non-fiction. The library houses fifteen computers for student use throughout the day, all attached to the school network. Teachers are also able to book sessions in the library for their classes.
Careers information is housed within the main library including information on employment opportunities, details of higher education courses and university prospectuses. Students also have access to a number of computer software packages, which give advice about career choices and details of courses in higher education establishments in Britain.
To ensure that each student has an equal opportunity of using the library to its full potential one year group per day has priority of access as follows:
Monday – Year 7
Tuesday – Year 8
Wednesday – Year 9
Thursday – Year 10
Friday – Year 11
Sixth Formers have unlimited access during opening hours. The library is open from 8.30 am until 4.00 pm daily.
We look forward to seeing you in the library.
