A-LEVEL DRAMA AND THEATRE STUDIES
TRANISTION WORK
The Drama and Theatre studies course will enable you to become independent theatre makers and provide you with the skills you need to go on to higher education, whether that is to study a course in drama and theatre or another subject.
We love teaching this course and we know you will enjoy studying it!
Getting Started
Your introduction to the A-Level Drama and Theatre course can be found here: LINK TO BOOKLET
There are tasks to get you organised and information on the set texts and further reading.
What work do I need to complete for September?
Task One: Theatrical Knowledge and Understanding
Complete the topic specific revise, video and tests on GCSE Bitesize following the links below.
Although this is GCSE level, it is important that all of you revisit, fill any gaps and are secure in the knowledge and understanding of drama and theatre. This will ensure you have solid foundations for advancing to A-Level.
Understanding drama and theatre - GCSE Drama Revision - AQA - BBC Bitesize
Performing characters - GCSE Drama Revision - AQA - BBC Bitesize
Theatre design - GCSE Drama Revision - AQA - BBC Bitesize
- Task Two: Set Text’s Social, Cultural and Historical Context
Complete all the tasks in the below booklets.
Once completed, print them off and file these in your folder under the relevant sections.
Task Three: Live Theatre
Watching professional performances can inspire how you use your own acting skills and how design can enhance a performance, developing an appreciation of theatre. If you get the chance to watch something at a theatre this summer, go see it! You can also access live theatre digitally on variety of platforms. I highly recommend subscribing to National Theatre at Home; National Theatre at Home (ntathome.com)
