A Brief Summary (see prospectus for full detail)
Size of Sixth Form
Our Governors intend to admit 165 students into each Year 12. The full intake is not taken up entirely by students from our own Year 11 and we welcome applications for places from students in other schools.
Our Courses: A and AS Levels
St Mary’s specialises in A and AS level courses. This allows us to offer a wide range of A levels and to accommodate most combinations of subjects. See Sixth Form Prospectus.
In addition to the high expectations of attendance, conduct, appearance and effort, applicants to Sixth Form should also satisfy the following academic requirements:
For 2017 entry:
- Five or more GCSE passes at grade C (4) or above, inclusive of Maths and English
- Grade B (6) or above in all the subjects you wish to study at A level
- Any additional requirements for the subjects you have chosen, as stated in the subject entries for each subject in the prospectus dated 2017.
For 2018 entry:

- Grade 6 or above in all subjects you wish to study at A level, within the Prospectus as detailed below
- Any additional requirements for the subjects you have chosen, as stated in the subject entries for each subject in the prospectus for 2018 which will be published shortly

Please note we would expect all applicants to be able to meet our minimum entry requirements, and for external applicants we will judge at the time of application based on the current grades (or closest equivalent) on the latest school report only (usually end of Year 10); students would have to show good attitude to learning and effort, and to attend well. If you are interested, you should contact Mrs Hogan (Sixth Form Administrator) in writing, by telephone or by email via firstname.lastname@example.org
Interested students will be invited to attend the next available sixth form open evening (with parents if they wish). These evenings take place twice-monthly through the application season. During open evenings, students will show you presentations about the school, you can visit our facilities and have the opportunity to ask students or staff any questions. The evening is informal: it is for your information only and it plays no part in the application procedure. If you are still interested in joining St Mary’s Sixth Form after one of our open evenings, you can apply by the deadline above by contacting Mrs Hogan email@example.com .
