Secondary Entry requirements

A UK honours degree preferably at classification 2:1 or above or a recognised equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area.

GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above or equivalent – you may have these at the time of applying or be waiting for your results.

If you wish to apply for a place on the School Direct Training Programme (salaried), typically you are required to have at least three years’ work experience in addition to the eligibility requirements detailed above.

If English is not your first language you need an IELTS average score of 7.0 with at least 6.5 in all skills or a TOEFL score of 570 (paper based) or 235 (computer based).

You must also successfully complete pre-entry tests in numeracy and literacy as designated by the National College for Teaching and Leadership.

Normally, evidence of at least 5 days relevant teaching experience in your chosen subject

We consider each application on its merits. Suitable applicants will be invited to a selection event involving an interview. As you will be working with children, you will be subject to Disclosure and Barring and health checks.
