TEACHER OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

St Mary’s Catholic High School is a popular 11-18 mixed Academy with excellent student behaviour and judged to be ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted October 2012).   This is a wonderful opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced RE Teacher, to join an outstanding school and become a valued member of our successful RE Department, at one of the top 20% performing schools in the country. Academic results are excellent; consistently achieving above average Progress 8 scores as well as impressive Attainment 8, Ebacc average point scores and outstanding A Level results.

In addition to excellent subject knowledge and qualifications, the successful candidate will be an exceptional classroom practitioner with the commitment and ability to engage and motivate all students to achieve their full potential. He/she will contribute to the delivery and development of Religious Education across the age and ability spectrum.

Whilst we are looking for a dedicated RE specialist we are also further developing the Sociology, Psychology and Health & Social Care departments within school and therefore potential candidates with these additional academic capabilities would be of interest too.

HEAD OF SCIENCE (TLR 1:2)

St Mary’s Catholic High School is seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher and leader with a track record for achieving excellent outcomes to the role of Head of Science.

St Mary’s Catholic High School is a popular 11-18 mixed Academy with excellent student behaviour and judged to be ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted October 2012).   This is a wonderful opportunity to join an outstanding school and lead our successful and highly motivated Science Department at one of the top 20% performing schools in the country.  Academic results are excellent; consistently achieving above average Progress 8 scores as well as impressive Attainment 8 Ebacc average point score and A Level results.  We are the top performing school in Derbyshire for attainment at both GCSE and A Level.

The successful candidate will be:

 

  1. Dynamic and innovative; providing professional leadership for the department to ensure high quality teaching and learning; enhancing further the excellent exam results of the Science Department.
  2. An exceptional classroom practitioner, delivering lessons that motivate and inspire our students to achieve.
  3. Able to lead and develop the delivery of Science in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, and effectively lead the Heads of Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
  4. Able to teach either Biology or Chemistry at A Level – this is essential.
