Imagine spending more than half your life doing something that you hate. Now imagine spending that time doing something that you love. We want you, a pupil of St Mary’s, to have an enjoyable and fulfilling future and that is why we have developed a Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme for you.

By considering the future we hope to motivate you in the present so that you will make the most of academic and personal opportunities. We hope to show you just how many opportunities are out there for you and we want you to feel confident in questioning and challenging barriers to those opportunities. We want to give you the skills to make choices that are right for you and the skills that are going to enable you to secure those opportunities and deal successfully with the challenges of the world of work.

Who Can Help You?

Dr E Dando is the Careers Lead and can be a useful first point of contact as, if she is unable to help you herself, she will likely be able to point you in the direction of someone who can.

Mrs E Taylor is the Higher Education Coordinator, supporting pupils in preparing and submitting applications for University.

Andrea Killingsworth is the Careers Adviser and supports pupils in making those difficult decisions. Any-aged pupil may drop in at lunchtime for support.

Mrs M Hogan is the Sixth Form Administrator and is a useful first point of contact regarding work experience opportunities for Year 12 or 13.

Mrs T Carroll is the school librarian and can direct you to helpful Careers Information in the library.

You can, of course also seek help from subject teachers, form tutors, Heads of Year and Heads of Key Stage.
