History

The History Department is a very friendly, energetic and successful part of the School. It is housed in three dedicated classrooms around a Departmental Office, and staffed by the equivalent of four full time specialist teachers. They comprise a well established committed team with a progressive but balanced and thorough approach.

History

In the Lower School the National Curriculum is taught with the aid of a variety of textbooks and school-produced booklets. There is a growing use of IT at Key Stage 3.

History is a popular choice at both GCSE and A Level. The AQA syllabus Option C (European History 1648 – 1789) and the Option O (British History 1603 – 1660) is followed in years 12 and 13. At GCSE the AQA Modern World Syllabus is taught.
Examination results have been outstanding at GCSE and A Level
