At Key Stage 3 pupils receive Careers Education during form-time with delivery being shared between the Careers and PSHE Coordinators. Sessions focus on such things as pupils’ strengths and weaknesses and the importance of getting involved. In year 9, Careers Education is further supplemented by a range of activities completed off timetable that help to prepare pupils for the Year 9 Options process.
At Key Stage 4, form-tutors deliver sessions addressing such things as post-16 options, employability skills, the completion of application forms and interview skills. Further Education staff give a presentation about college life whilst a presentation on Employment and Modern Apprenticeships opportunities is also delivered to year 11 pupils.
In the Sixth Form, pupils regularly receive Careers Education during curriculum time from the Careers Coordinator. Sessions consider such things as post-18 opportunities, personal statement writing and interview preparation. There is further supplementation for the Sixth Form with assemblies and off-timetable days which cover aspects such as UCAS applications.
Many of the teaching resources used during the Careers Education Programme are available through the Careers Section of the school website along with a whole host of other useful information.
