The Lourdes Pilgrimage 2012
My first time in Lourdes

This year was the first time I had been to Lourdes and I definitely don’t regret it.

I have made lots of new friends who I plan to stay in contact with and the overall experience left me with a sense of community and worth. On the trip I also learned a lot about myself and was given a true insight on how I was seen by others.

And for those that wouldn’t go be3casue of the idea of Mass everyday – its their loss. Celebration in Lourdes was somewhat overwhelming yet praise and worship either through music or simply being with friends made it certainly worthwhile

Finally, Lourdes gave me opportunities to express emotion and taught me through the story of Bernadette who is at the heart of Lourdes, that you don’t have to be extraordinary to experience God’s presence.

Welcome to the Chaplaincy at St. Mary’s High school. The Chaplaincy is made up of the members of the whole school community remembering that each one of us has a network of relationships that we bring with us wherever we go.

Our mission statement calls us :

To live, love and learn in the light of Christ.

As a welcoming and supportive community of faith sharing in the joys and hopes, the griefs and anxieties of all.

St Mary 2a_thumb Our school is under the patronage of Mary – the Mother of Jesus and our mother. She walks with us on the road of discipleship. Each year, we celebrate one of her feast-days. What is important to us here in St.Mary’s is the quality of our relationships – with God, with each other, with those we meet and with our world.

Every day, either in the whole Year Assemblies or in Form Registration, time is given to reflection and prayer which is based on the events of the Church’s liturgical life, or community life or events in our world.

We begin each day by praying our school prayer together – we invite you to join with us:

  • Loving God, as I begin this day,
  • Help me to live my life to the best of my ability
  • To be open to those who love me
  • To respond to those who need me
  • To forgive those who hurt me
  • And to appreciate the world in which I live.

The school chaplain co-ordinates and provides opportunities for all members of the school community to nourish their spiritual selves.
