Micheline Beaulieu (Chair of Governors)
I was appointed by the Diocese as a Foundation Governor in December 2009.
I retired as Pro-Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning at the University of Sheffield having spent over thirty years in higher education. I bring to the governing body extensive experience in strategic and financial planning as well as specialist knowledge in my academic discipline of information science & technology as well as computing.
I am Canadian born but have spent my professional career in the UK. As a French speaker I have a keen interest in languages as well as British and French History. My first degree was a double honours in French and Art History and I have continued to nurture my passion for the visual arts. I am also a keen gardener and have discovered the joys of growing vegetables.
Many of us have benefited from a good Catholic education and it should not be taken for granted. At a time when faith schools are being brought into question it is important to ensure that St Mary’s gets the necessary support to continue to thrive. Having obtained Academy status and achieved an outstanding Ofsted assessment, St Mary’s is well placed to meet the ever growing educational challenges in our society and make its mark in our community. We have so much to be proud of at St Mary’s. It is a great privilege to work with young people and to share in the fulfilment of their aspirations.
