Dear Parent/Carer
Re: GCSE Mathematics Resources

We appreciate and thank you for your continued support in enabling us to develop your son/daughter to achieve their very best in Mathematics. To that end, we would like to pass on some important information.

As part of an extensive revision programme, we provide all Year 11 students with a series of GCSE practice papers, which will help their revision and give valuable insight into the style of questions they can expect at GCSE. Due to the large number of papers provided, we ask for a contribution of £7.50 towards the photocopying costs, payable through ParentPay. If your son/daughter is entitled to a reduction in the cost of these revision materials, this will be applied directly onto ParentPay.

It is important that all students bring the correct equipment with them to every lesson. Students are expected to have a pen, pencil, ruler, eraser, pencil sharpener, protractor and a pair of compasses. In addition to this, all pupils are expected to own a scientific calculator and will need to bring this to every Maths lesson. We encourage pupils to buy the Casio fx-83GT Plus as this facilitates the class to be taught as a group.

The department offers a Maths helpline to all pupils every lunchtime in M3. If your child experiences any difficulties that cannot be addressed in lessons or would like any additional support with their mathematics, they are encouraged to attend. There will always be members of the Maths Department available to help during these times.

We appreciate your continued support in these matters. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Maths teacher with any questions about your child’s learning in Maths.

Yours faithfully
