Dear Parents/Carers

We are writing to inform you about two special days planned for our Year 7 pupils. These days are designed to give pupils a chance to pause from their busy academic schedules in order to reflect and get to know each other further. The days are Tuesday 2 November and Wednesday 3 November 2021.

On Tuesday 2 November 2021, the Year 7’s will be engaged in a variety of enjoyable and spiritually nurturing sessions which will encourage them to explore personal and social development. We will be focussing on teaching pupils to have increased self-confidence whilst building mutual respect for each other and God’s creation. Pupils will have an opportunity to reflect, pray and grow in faith.

On Wednesday 3 November 2021 pupils will visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Here they will attend a wonderful workshop called ‘Aren’t Animals Amazing?’. During this fun, hands on educational session, pupils will gain a greater appreciation and understanding of animals and God’s creation. They will observe and touch a range of animal artefacts such as skulls, claws, feathers and will handle small live animals if they would like. They will also have free time to explore the Wildlife Park and develop their emerging friendships.

Students will be in non-uniform on both days and will not need to bring school equipment on the Tuesday in school, they will just require a pen and their student planners.

On the Wednesday, pupils will need suitable clothing (please check the weather forecast in advance) and a packed lunch. Please note that during the free time at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, pupils will be supervised remotely and free to explore the park in their friendship groups. Prior to this, pupils will be shown where to find staff should they need to.

We are expecting all pupils to take part in this fantastic opportunity. Please pay the amount on Parent Pay before Friday 29 October 2021 to secure their place. The full cost of the visit is £24 per person and payment also covers consent for the trip. Pupils in receipt of Free School Meals will have a reduced payment of £12.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and your ongoing support.

Yours faithfully

Mr J Slater                                        Miss A Pimblett
