Today seems to have come round very quickly. The students have mixed feelings. They are all keen to see their families again, but are also sad to leave their new-found Spanish family and friends!
In the morning we visited the factory of Porcelanosa, the biggest tile manufacturer in Spain, which exports tiles all over the world. The plant covers a vast area and it is unusual to be allowed to take a school visit. First we saw the processing plant where the clay is compressed to form the tile base and the tiles are fired and glazed. Then we visited the logistics centre, a massive warehouse, run mainly by robots, which reminded many of us of the door scene in Monsters Inc.!
This was followed by a visit to the Porcelanosa showroom, full of beautifully tiled bathrooms, kitchens and even bedrooms and dining rooms. Our visit ended with a visit to another showroom, this time of the sister company Venis. All in all we had a real taste of luxury!
We then got back onto the bus and drove up into the mountains to the hermitage of the Magdalena and the old castle. It was interesting to see the reconstruction of the Moorish-style walls and the place where Castellón first emerged as a city. We also had spectacular views of the mountains and out over the valley to the sea.
Back to school for the final lesson in a Spanish school. Then packing ready for an early start tomorrow morning.
¡Nos vemos mañana – hasta luego!
