Applications for Year 7 Admission
The process for transfer from primary to secondary school begins in the September that a child starts Year 6.
Secondary Transfer personalised letters and leaflets are sent to parents from the Local Authority via the child’s current school giving advice on the application process.
As well as the Local Authority application parents are required to complete our Supplementary Information Form and if appropriate, a Minister’s Reference Form (MR1). These forms and our Prospectus can be downloaded from this website. St Mary’s forms should be sent directly to us.
The Governing Body of St Mary’s is the admission authority and the Local Authority co‑ordinates all admissions on behalf of the Governing Body. You can access the Local Authority Application Form via the link below.
The closing date for applications is 31 October. The Local Authority will notify parents of the place allocated to their child at the beginning of March the following year.
Derbyshire parents should contact the Local Authority to make an application. Those applying from out of County should make their application to their home Authority which is sent on to Derbyshire.
The Local Authority will contact us to ascertain if a place is available. If a place is not available in the relevant year group a refusal will be returned to them. Parents will then be given the right of appeal. Appeals Guidance Notes and Appeal Form can be downloaded via the link below.
