About the School: Introduction

St Mary’s Catholic High School is an 11 – 18 comprehensive school situated in North East Derbyshire only 15 minutes drive from Sheffield. We have 1254 pupils on roll including around 270 in the sixth form.

The school was built in 1981 in a college/campus style in very attractive buildings. We are situated very close to the Peak National Park an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Welcome

We are a very successful and energetic school. St Mary’s is a very happy place, and an extremely pleasant school in which to teach. We are heavily oversubscribed at every age group from year 7 to year 13.

Pupil behaviour, appearance and attitude are very important to us. We insist on the highest standards in each of these areas. Facilities are excellent. We have recently opened a new multi gym for staff and sixth formers.

“The outstanding achievement of pupils results from a combination of high quality teaching and excellent care, guidance and support.”
